Property Description

​

Entire cottage bungalow on 1 acre of land located in the quaint Hamlet of Salem on the outskirts of Colborne, Ontario. Salem is halfway between Cobourg and Trenton, 8 minutes south of Highway 401. View map.​​​​​

Description: Our cozy country house sits on 1 scenic acre nestled into the trees. Kick back and relax, we provide all the amenities of modern living with an element of rustic charm. Our house features a fully equipped kitchen, open concept living room, 2 bedrooms, large bathroom and laundry room, air conditioning and heating depending on the season.​

 

Our fully equipped kitchen has all the appliances and gadgets you'll need to cook up daily feasts. We provide refillable jugs of spring water for your convenience.

Our living room features a comfortable sofa, ottoman, reading chair, electric fireplace, flat-screen TV with a pull-down mount, and a large window with an expansive view of the trees.

​

Each bedroom includes a comfortable queen bed layered with soft cotton feather-free duvets, lots of squishy pillows and plenty of clothing storage.

Our spacious bathroom includes a shower stall and a separate soaker tub.​

​​

Guests are encouraged to roam our adjacent Campground & RV Park. Take a morning stroll down the laneway to see the wildlife pond or grab the lantern and take an evening wander through the marsh that leads to the creek and beaver dam. The lush vegetation surrounding the pond provides an excellent habitat for local wildlife including swans, geese, ducks, turtles, otters, spawning rainbow trout and salmon. Explore.

 

The dark skies of Salem are perfect for stargazing so don't forget to look up! The backyard has a firepit so you can roast some marshmallows, sip some cocoa and listen to the sounds of the nightlife.

 

In the summertime, guests are welcome to use the swimming pool in the RV park.​​​​

Accessibility: Our house is not wheelchair accessible but it may be suitable for people with minor mobility issues because it is a single-story bungalow with a minimal front door threshold (no steps).

Pets: Our guests are welcome to bring their dogs with them during their stay for an additional cleaning fee, billed per total stay ($25). We kindly request that all dogs be kept on leash while outside. We have provided a leash hook-up in the back yard for your convenience. There are many exciting areas for you to explore with your furry family members and we are certain they will enjoy the experience as much as you do.​​​​​​

Rules and Regulations:

 

• We kindly ask that guests do not burn real candles inside the premises. For ambient lighting, we have provided an assortment of LED tea lights and string lights. Thank you for your cooperation.

• Absolutely NO smoking inside the premises. No vaping inside the premises. No use of bongs, vaporizers or any other marijuana devices inside the premises  Outside only. Thank you.

Considerations: We are situated in a rural residential setting—natural and peaceful. Although we are on a quiet street, there is a CN train that passes through the town of Colborne almost daily. These train tracks are not visible from the house ( .5 km away), but the sound of the train's horn can carry through the trees and can be heard occasionally throughout the morning, afternoon and evening. Most guests don't find it troublesome (and some guests even like it) but we realize that people can have differing sensitivities to sound.​

Refund Policy: Your pre-payment is fully refundable if you cancel this booking 7 days or more before your arrival date. It is NOT refundable if you cancel less than 7 days before your arrival date. Modifying the dates of your booking due to emergencies or unforeseen circumstances may be possible depending on the situation.

 

We require a $200 security deposit to cover the cost of any damages incurred during your stay.  If there are no damages, other than normal wear and tear, your security deposit will be refunded back to your credit card. If there are damages, the necessary fee to repair the damages will be deducted from your security deposit. If there is anything remaining from your security deposit after the damages are covered, that remainder will be refunded back to your credit card.
