Salem Woods 

Park Rules and Regulations

 

 

Salem Woods Campground and RV Park is a private campground. We are not governed under The Landlord and Tenant Act. We are a member of the Ontario Private Campground Association (OPCA). We operate under our own policies, rules and regulations as recommended by OPCA.

 

The following rules and regulations have been established to provide a safe and enjoyable time while in the park. Violating the rules and regulations could result in you being evicted from the park without a refund.

 

 

 

SITE FEES

 

  • All 2025 site fees must be paid by May 1st, 2025. Any late payments will accrue 10% interest. The season runs from May 1st until October 31st. There will be no off-season park privileges given to residents unless specifically requested.

 

 

 

ADDITIONAL GUESTS

 

  • Each site comes with a family pass which includes 2 adults, as listed on the registration form, and their immediate dependants. Children under 5 are free.

  • Site owners must submit the names of any guests not included in the family pass.

  • Fees for additional guests:  Day Pass /$5 per person,  Overnight Pass / $10 per person (per night)

  • Guests are not allowed at trailer sites and campsites without the owners of the site being present.

  • All guests must leave the park by 9pm unless registered as an overnight guest.

  • Residents are responsible for ensuring their guests respect the rules and regulations of the park.

VEHICLES

 

  • All vehicles must be listed on your registration form.

  • You are only allowed two (2) cars per site and they must be on your site. You cannot use anyone else’s site for parking without their permission.

  • ATVs /4-wheelers can only be used in the park for leaf removal.

 

 

 

SPEED LIMIT

 

  • The speed limit of the park is 10 km per hour.  This applies to the entire park as well as the roadway into the park. Salem Woods is home to an abundant array of wildlife that roam freely throughout the premises, some of which are endangered species. We kindly ask that you carefully follow this rule. We have a zero tolerance policy for repeat offenders. 

 

 

 

INSURANCE AND LIABILITY

 

  • All residents and visitors of the park are required to have their own insurance policy. The owners and management of Salem Woods Campground and RV Park are absolved from all liability for loss, damage or injury by fire, accident or other causes—this includes damage or injury from any trees in the park, waterways or wildlife—all of which contribute to the beauty and ambience of our natural setting.

GARBAGE

 

  • No wet-wipes of any kind are permitted in the sewage system. Please place them in with your garbage.

  • Please separate all garbage from recycling and place in the correct bins in the Garbage Shed as designated by the Northumberland Waste Management Program (black-lined bins are for garbage, clear-lined bins are for recycling).

  • Construction materials are not accepted. 

  • Plumbing waste and human sewage are not accepted.

  • All animal waste (cat litter and dog poop) must be pre-bagged and disposed of in such a way that will not leak or have any chance of spilling out. 

  • Do not dispose of sharp objects in the Garbage Shed—this includes BBQ skewers.

  • Do not dispose of medical waste in the Garbage Shed—this includes needles, etc.

  • Any items not accepted at the Garbage Shed can be taken to the local dump.

  • If you are not a permanent resident, please dispose of your garbage at home.

 

 

 

CAMPFIRES

 

  • You must be 21 years of age or older to start and maintain a fire.

  • Please clear the area surrounding your firepit of leaves and other flammable debris.

  • Fires must be contained at all times.

  • Keep fires low. No big bonfires.

  • Never leave your fire unattended.

  • Extinguish your fire and cover the firepit before retiring for the evening or leaving your site.

  • Do not use your firepit as a garbage can.

  • Do not throw glass, metal, combustibles or aerosols into the firepits.

  • Do not burn plastics or styrofoam! Government regulations prohibit burning substances on open fires that emit toxins.

  • Do not trespass on anyone else’s property for burnables or fire starting materials.

  • Firewood can be purchased onsite or from local suppliers.

  • To prevent unwanted invasive species, only local wood may be brought into the park. Please do not bring firewood from outside of Northumberland County.

 

 

 

POOL

 

  • Pool hours are posted outside the pool.

  • There is no lifeguard on duty. 

  • Children under 16 must be supervised by an adult.

  • No alcoholic beverages or smoking is permitted in or around the pool area.

  • No pets in the pool area.

  • Glass is not permitted in the pool area.

  • No sharp objects in the pool area.

  • Please pick up your garbage when leaving.

  • Do not leave your pool toys in the pool area—take all toys back to your site when leaving.

 

 

 

QUIET HOURS

 

  • Quiet time is from 11:00 pm to 9:00 am.

  • No machinery until 9:00 am

  • All children under 16 must be on their own site by 10:00 pm, exception being for a park event and in that case they must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Please keep your stereo/music to a reasonable volume so as not to disturb your neighbours.

 

 

 

PETS

 

  • All pets are welcome.

  • Pets must be kept on leash at all times even when on your own site.

  • Please pick up after your pet and dispose of accordingly.

  • Pets are not to be left unattended for long periods of time.

  • Capturing and keeping wildlife in the park as ‘pets’ is strictly prohibited.

 

 

 

SITE MODIFICATIONS

 

  • No major structures, modifications or upgrades can be made to the site without approval.

  • All outside contractors must have approval from the office.

  • No cutting, damaging or removing any branches or trees..

  • Pesticides and herbicides are prohibited, especially Round-Up.

 

 

 

TRAILER SALES

 

  • All trailer sales within the park must be approved by park management.

  • Park management will not act as the sales agent for your trailer.

  • All new park residents that may result from the sale of a trailer must be screened and approved by park management and management has the right to accept or decline any persons for any reason.

  • A 10% commission fee will be charged for the privilege of using the park for the purpose of selling a trailer.

  • All commissions must be paid before entry of new tenants or removal of trailers.

  • If you wish to avoid the 10% commission fee and sell your trailer privately, you must remove your trailer from the park prior to sale, ensuring all site fees and hydro bills have been paid in full.

  • Absolutely no subletting allowed.

 

 

 

LET'S WORK TOGETHER TO KEEP THE PARK PEACEFUL AND BEAUTIFUL

 

  • We have a zero tolerance policy for any kind of littering within the park—this includes cigarette butts, so please do not flick your cigarette butts on the ground within the park.

  • No fighting in the park! If any disputes between residents or guests erupt in the park and result in the discomfort of any other residents or guests, all disputing parties will be evicted from the park without a refund. It is crucial for us to maintain a friendly, peaceful environment. If anyone has a problem with another member of the park, bring your concerns to park management.
